Bexley Residents Offered Free Eight-Week Wellbeing Programme

A new free wellbeing programme is launching in Bexley this autumn, offering local adults practical support with stress, anxiety, confidence, resilience and social isolation.

Brighter Futures: Community Wellbeing and Mental Health Support has received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund and will provide an eight-week programme for adults aged 18 and over living in the borough.

The initiative has been developed by Good Mental Health 2025 CIC and psychotherapist Muge Ahmet, with the first sessions taking place at Hall Place & Gardens in Bexley.

The programme will draw on evidence-based psychological approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy principles, while also being designed to accommodate neurodivergent adults, including people with ADHD and autism.

Topics will include managing stress and anxiety, emotional regulation, confidence and self-esteem, motivation, resilience, lifestyle and maintaining long-term wellbeing.

Muge, a BABCP Accredited Psychotherapist and Senior Lecturer, said her professional experience and lived experience of ADHD had helped shape the project.

β€œAs a psychotherapist, educator, and someone with lived experience of ADHD, I understand how challenging it can be to access support that feels practical, accessible and genuinely inclusive,” she said.

β€œBrighter Futures has been designed to provide a welcoming environment where people can learn evidence-based wellbeing skills, connect with others and develop greater confidence in managing life's challenges.”

A community launch event will take place on Friday 18 September from 10am to 11.30am at the Education Room at Hall Place & Gardens.

Residents will be able to find out more about the project, meet community partners and register for the first programme.

The initial eight-week course will then run on selected Fridays between October and December, from 10am until noon.

Sessions are scheduled for:

  • 9, 16 and 23 October

  • 6, 13, 20 and 27 November

  • 11 December

The programme is open to Bexley residents aged 18 and over who want to improve their wellbeing, develop coping strategies, build confidence or connect with other people in a supportive setting.

Places are free but limited.

Muge added: β€œMost people want to make positive changes in their lives. The challenge is often not a lack of motivation, but knowing where to start.

β€œWe want to make support more accessible and help people find the right resources at the right time.”

Residents interested in attending the launch or joining the programme can contact Good Mental Health 2025 CIC for further information.
